This 9th installment, …Is Committed, is unhinged.  From the the album title to the abandon hospital on it’s cover, everything is leaning into the material.  The cover art is not “that hospital in Texas“, The Menninger Clinic, that Max Bemis mentioned in earlier works–when he was committed.

I try to avoid reviews from critics.  Difficult to do in today’s culture.  Redditors really want to comment their unsolicited opinions on new releases.  Say Anything‘s subreddit is no different.  The fandom there being a hostile circlejerk.  Thirty-year-something-nostalgics hatin’ on everything the band has released past 2006.  They blasted IC for it’s sexually-charged lyrics.  I call double standard.  Wet Ass Pussy by Cardi B is praised as being sex positive, empowering women.

As a Bemis historian, I saw it more as a love letter to Sherri Dupree (Eisley).  I have a soft-spot for their side-band, Perma.  Despite all the controversy surrounding their online activities, I rooted for them.  They separated a year after this record released, being married for 16 years.  Maybe IC was a last ditch effort to save the sinking ship?
