I predicted Crucial Dudes were going to be a staple of the 2010’s pop-punk revival scene. This debut is amazing but I was wrong on their trajectory, it’s their only full length. Currently the only mention of them on Wikipedia is how Boom, Roasted lyrics are the origin of Neck Deep’s band name. What the fuck happened?
As a Dying Scene headline put it “Crucial Dudes Lost A Crucial Dude”. Shortly after releasing this record, a bandmember (never identified) backed out of a promotional tour. The band imploded & called it quits. Members formed new groups, including Podacter & Cabana Wear. Neither scratching that 61 Penn itch.
They’ve since reunited. Releasing some compilations & a remaster of this album, but no follow up. I question what could of have been for their career if they never lost that initial momentum.
What do you think?
